Week 4 Done...

Ok, so a month has gone by and another pound is lost. I didn't do well with the Atkins, but I did cut back on the carbs. I also didn't get any exercise in, other than walking at work.

So for the month - 9 pounds lost. I'm pretty happy with that. Here's to another 9 pounds this next month! (Of course unless I exercise and do the Atkins for real, I think we can really only hope for 4!)

Week 3

I lost a pound this week. Not terrible considering I was awful this week. I really need to get a hold of myself and get serious. I have no idea where my self control went this week. I also really need to get serious about running. I'd like that to be my exercise of choice.

This is a new week, a new beginning. First thing - I need to be getting my breakfasts in, and in early. I've been waiting to cook my breakfast until around 10-ish, and that throws off my whole schedule. Second thing, I need to get to the Y for my run. Third, I need to make sure I get my lunch in. I know I'll be less hungry in the afternoon (my prime snacking time), if I get a good Atkins lunch in. That leaves dinner. Dinner can be handled, even at work, if I'm not starving. My problem comes when I'm so hungry I want to grab the first available easy thing.

We got a new bed, it'll be delivered tomorrow. I'm so excited! I think with better sleep, I'll be better at this too.

Until next time... :)

Week Two Done

Ok, so I stepped on the scale yesterday and was very pleased to see that I'd lost 3 pounds! Then I stepped on the scale this morning, and had gained a pound and a half back. So, here's my conclusions: I didn't eat well this week. I didn't cheat, but I don't think I got in my 20g carbs from veggies this week. I also skipped some meals, which screwed up my metabolism, I'm sure. Also, it's my TOM week...so that's going to screw up my numbers.

My plan for this week: eat right, get in some exercise and not stress over the numbers on the scale.

Here's to a better week! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Week One Done

Well, overall it was a good week. I lost 3 lbs. Yesterday was a bad day - I had ice cream, pizza and a lollipop. Yikes. Bad me. Back on the wagon today - no slip ups.

I exercised twice this week and worked 3 nights. Lots of walking on the nights I worked. Was planning to get up and exercise this morning, but Madi was up for a good portion of the night last night. Will have to make do with working tonight.

Time to go make an Atkin's friendly bfast. Here's to a good week. :)

Writer's Digest Contest

My friend Sam told me last night about a writing contest at Writer's Digest. I guess they have one every month. He's been doing the contest and encouraged me to submit a short story (750 words or less). The contest gives you a prompt and then away you go.

I sat down this morning and wrote it out. Bam! 750 words exactly (after a little editing...it was 808 words!) I submitted it and man, don't I feel good. I killed two birds with one stone today. Wrote for an hour (with plenty of kid-type interruptions), and submitted it to the contest. I doubt anything will come of it, but it was fun.

On another topic, today is day 2. I lost 1.5 lbs! I'm almost done with my first liter of water. I'm hoping to get through both liters today. I have to work tonight, so it should be easy to keep the water flowing. I had an awesome 2-egg omelette this morning. I put cheddar, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes into it. It was definitely filling. It must be close to lunch. I'm actually starting to feel like I want to eat something sweet. I'm resisting!

Time to pick up this apartment. When we got home on Sunday, I just dropped things and left them lay. But now, it's hard to maneuver. And the mess is driving me nuts. At least if I'm busy with that, I won't be focused on my craving for sweets. :)

First Day Done!

Ok, so I had a good day. I checked in with the forums on Atkins.com and they told me I need some more veggies today and a lot more water tomorrow. I came in at 14 net carbs today. I wasn't too hungry all day - not until dinner. I think I may have been so hungry only because it tasted so good. I stopped myself from getting seconds and am satisfied. I'm going to have some celery & cream cheese after I get the kids to bed as a before bed snack. I also have at least a 1/2L of water to finish off.

Walked at the Y today for 35 minutes! Go me!

I'm going to make a quiche tonight for breakfast tomorrow. Crustless, of course. :)

Good Morning!

Ok! Have eggs, bacon and slice of cheese on my plate! Yum! Heading to the Y after breakfast and then to the store for supplies. Weighed in this morning and it wasn't as bad as I feared it might! Now to just get the 2 liters of water into me today. That'll be the toughest goal.

New Year's Resolutions

I know, today is January 30th. I'm 30 days late with my New Year's resolutions. BUT, I wanted to make sure my resolutions were attainable. So, I've been pondering, assessing, pondering some more and have finally come up with what I think are some attainable goals for 2011.

First and foremost: lose 50 pounds. At a rate of 1lb per week, this goal should be easily attainable. Tomorrow I start the Atkins diet. I've done this before and had awesome success. However, two babies later killed that success. Also, working out at the Y Monday-Friday mornings. They have a childcare room, so that won't be a problem or a hindrance to my workouts.

Secondly, I'd like to get one of my novels finished. That is a lofty goal, so I'm reducing it to writing an hour each day. Creative writing. And if that is working on a novel, a short story or just some character exercises - I'll be happy.

Third, I want to spend an hour each week working on the blogs. Mine, Ben's and Madi's. I've really gotten out of the habit of doing their updates and time has flown. So...time to get back into it.

Fourth, find my happy.

So, raise your glasses up! Here's to an improved me, one that's happier, healthier, creative and communicating. Happy New Year!
